There is plenty of progress in technology, while scientists have
a long way to go.
One of the surgical improvements that has helped to deal with Brain Tumor is
deep brain stimulation (DBS). Recent ClearPoint technology has made DBS much
more accessible to a wider array of patients. This type of neurosurgery is done
with lasers and proves to not be much slower and much less painful than
conventional operation.
There are lots of types of brain tumors that you can get. Here
is a quick description of the different types of tumors as well as their
symptoms:
Acoustic Neuromas. This tumor is most common in middle age and
grows in Schwann cells. Their main symptom is reduction of hearing, but the
ones that are larger will also cause vomiting, headaches, and altered consciousness.
It may be medicated by surgery and radiation therapy.
Astrocytomas. These originate in glial cells in the cerebellum.
They seldom make the brain, but will sometimes spread to the spinal cord. There
are many different types and levels of astrocytomas that may form. They can
form at any age, although the more severe instances are usually found in
adults. One can function perfectly for years with astrocytomas. They can be
treated either through surgery or therapy.
Glioblastoma multiforme. All these really are the most common
types of brain tumors seen in individuals. They're the highest level of
astrocytoma and have become dangerous since they spread quickly. It may lead to
a wide selection of symptoms, including seizures, vomiting, headaches, and hemiparesis
(weakness on one side of the body). They may be extremely difficult to treat
and different cases need different treatments. Some of the more prevalent types
of treatments include chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery.
Meningioma. In most cases, they may be not malignant. Include
focal seizures, weakness, and intracranial pressure. In cases of malignancy,
surgery or radiation might be performed, although it is often detected.
Pituitary tumors. Pituitary adenomas are tumors that are
located in the pituitary gland. This results in hyperpituitarism which means
adrenocorticotropic hormones that prolactin, and growth hormones are over
secreted. This will also cause headaches as well as manifest in emotional
instability, anxiety, apathy, and depression.
